Flights

There are two main airports in Spain that are convenient to the area of Catalonia that we cover. The closest is Girona about 45 minutes drive with Barcelona airport being about 2 hours drive. If you are not planning to hire a car from the airport you will find information about local Bus, Train and Taxi services under our “Local Travel” heading.

Please be aware however that if you are not planning to hire a car during your holidays your ability to explore this beautiful area will be limited. We would also advise that you contact us before booking so that we can give you information regarding the suitability of any properties you may be interested in with regard to access to local amenities.

The proximity of this area to the French boarder also means that there are two further airports that are available within a reasonable drive. Perpignan about 1½ hours drive and Carcason about 2½ hours.

We will ask you to give us your flight details and arrival time when we send our travel information form. If, however, there are last minute changes or delays to your flight please remember to advise us of these in order that we can inform you how and where to collect your keys should you arrive outside our office opening times.

Travel by Car

Travelling from the North our office is just over an hours drive from the French/Spanish boarder at Le Perthus on the A9/AP-7 motorway. We will send route instructions with your arrival information that will take you on a route departing the AP-7 Autopista at Girona which applies for motorists travelling from either North or South. This is a simple route for the purpose of instructions but not necessarily the best. If you have GPS it will offer a number of alternative routes which tend to be better and quicker but require more complex instructions. These are probably the best to follow.

Please time your journey to try to arrive during our Office opening hours as shown in the “Overview” section under the “Travel” heading of our web site which also gives GPS co-ordinates and phone numbers. If you find that you are likely to arrive after our office is closed please phone to let us know while the office is open so that we can make alternative arrangements for your key collection and advise you of these.

For most rentals you will collect keys from our office together with details of how to find the property. With a few properties you will receive directions to go straight to the property not the office for key collection there but this will be advised with your arrival information.

Taxi – We can always arrange local taxi transfers from airports, stations, hotels or villas. For Airport collections a driver will be at the Airport Arrivals gate to meet you and with “out of hours” collections will usually have the house keys so you can be taken direct to your accommodation. As a guide to cost in a standard taxi (up to 4 passengers) a one way transfer from Girona Airport to Pals or Calella de Palafrugell is about 90€ and from Barcelona Airport is about 200€. Extra charges may apply to Bank Holidays or particularly Late/Early collections. We are happy to get quotations if larger vehicles are required.
